We want you to feel your best in Pure Balanxed clothes, we also want Mother Nature to feel her best. This is why all of our pieces are made with selective materials chosen for their sustainability, durability, and of course their softness. We want Pure Balanxed customers to shop guilt-free knowing that we are doing everything we can as a brand to contribute to the slow fashion movement. Our sustainable basics fit perfectly into any closet and come in a wide variety of sizes and colours and are all OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified.

Here, we discuss the sustainable textiles we use to make our women’s apparel and why these materials can be classified as sustainable and eco-friendly.

Sustainable Women’s Basics

As a sustainable fashion brand, we at Pure Balanxed pride ourselves on using ethically sourced, eco-friendly fabrics for all of our garments. While it might be a bit more difficult to source certain sustainable materials, it is worth it for you, and for mother nature! Being a slow fashion brand means taking the time to source sustainable materials, use ethical manufacturing processes, and reduce waste wherever possible. Our aim is to empower women with cozy, long-lasting garments that they feel strong, worthy, and powerful in while protecting mother nature at the same time.

Many of our women’s apparel including our women’s t-shirts, t-shirt dresses, and more are made from the sustainable material, Tencel. Tencel is a sustainable fabric made of fibres that originate from renewable raw material like wood, created by photosynthesis in an eco-friendly manufacturing process. This results in Tencel fibres being biodegradable and compostable. We love knowing that Tencel will eventually convert back into nature.

Another eco-friendly textile we love to use is Bamboo. We use bamboo in all of our women’s joggers, crewnecks, and shorts. Bamboo is sustainable because it doesn’t need pesticides or fertilizers to grow, and it doesn’t need to be replanted after harvest because it grows new sprouts from the roots. Bamboo trees regenerate in as little as 55 days.

100% organic cotton fleece is another great eco-friendly, sustainable choice that we use for our women’s hoodies and our Weekend Waffle Collection. Cotton is renewable and biodegradable because it’s plant-based. 100% cotton is always a better choice than other materials because it is not petroleum-based.

What Does OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Mean?

You will notice how we mention being OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified, but what does this mean?

Well the OEKO-TEX Standard 100 is a label you will find on textiles which means it has been tested for harmful substances, therefore being safe for human health. These are conducted directly by OEKO-TEX®  and trusted partners. They have set the global standard for textile testing. Their testing criteria catalogue is updated every year, so you know you can trust the outcome.

Being OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified allows us the assurance of the quality of our garments and that the textiles we use are being held to the highest of standards. Being certified also allows sustainable fashion brands like ourselves to gain credibility and trust globally. We want our customers to know and trust we are choosing top quality, safe and sustainable fabrics.
